Peptide storage guide: temperature, reconstitution and shelf life

Correct storage keeps lyophilised research peptides stable. Get it wrong and the peptide can degrade before you use it.

Lyophilised powder

Store sealed lyophilised vials in the freezer at -20 degrees C, away from light and moisture. In these conditions they stay stable for months. Keep vials in their original packaging until ready to use.

Shipping stability

Lyophilised peptides are stable at ambient temperature during transit. A 3 to 5 day delivery in Egypt does not harm the powder. The stability risk only starts after reconstitution.

Reconstitution

Let the vial warm to room temperature before reconstituting. Dispense bacteriostatic water slowly along the inner wall of the vial using appropriate laboratory technique, not directly onto the powder. Swirl gently to dissolve. Never shake the vial.

After reconstitution

Store reconstituted peptides in the fridge at 2 to 8 degrees C and use within 28 days. Do not freeze after reconstitution.

Quick summary

  • Powder: -20 degrees C freezer, away from light
  • Reconstituted: 2 to 8 degrees C fridge, use within 28 days
  • Never: shake, freeze after mixing, or expose to direct light
